About

Hi, I’m Christi. I make my home and my living on the Colorado range with my husband and two kids… here where the deer and the antelope do indeed play (and get hunted, but not by me… I’m no Elmer Fudderetta like my mother).

Where it’s also true that seldom is heard a discouraging word. Except in times like these with low commodity prices, drought, crazy zealous grasshoppers, and trade wars. But, generally, yes. As the famous Will Rogers once said, “The farmer has to be an optimist or he wouldn’t still be a farmer.” Well, yes, that personality trait is important but so is having a willing banker that’s still up to partnering in a rather high risk game.

And, finally, like “Home on the Range” says, where the skies are not cloudy all day. Just some of it, sometimes. Though we would prefer the above ground airspace to be a bit cloudier more often, with falling rain that would allow crops to grow and shield us from 106-degree heat. But all while sparing us from profit-stripping hail and wind. And tornadoes.

Yep, that about covers it. Later we’ll get to small biting flies, rattlesnakes, beautiful sunsets, and living alongside some of the best and truest people you can find on planet Earth. And we’ll be sure to cover fun, “rangey” activities such as toiling under the sun trying to kill strong-willed “smart” weeds, sometimes rather meaninglessly as wise King Solomon once suggested. And long, drawn-out harvests, blizzards that send cattle into exodus, and the joys (and challenges) of living all of this out with your family by your side. And not many others. Because there’s not a mall close by, or a Sam’s or Target within 80 miles.

Yep, home on the range. Thanks for reading. It makes me feel better already 🙂
